Director of Music – Gareth Stubberfield

After studying at York, Bristol and then Durham Universities, Gareth’s subsequent twenty-six
years in the classroom gave him the opportunity to share his love of music with all ages.

With two shows a year, regular examination preparation and accompaniment, brass
ensembles, jazz bands and orchestras, Gareth also supported local community music
through both local choral and dramatic societies, extending his skills through the work of the
Association of British Choral Directors.

Academic credits included an award from the Good
Schools Guide for most value added boys’ teaching at A-Level and recognition of advanced
harmony teaching by the London College of Music. Past student credits include the BBC
Scottish Orchestra, composition publishing and London productions of Billy Elliott and Les
Mis.

Now freelance and based near Camelford, Gareth continues to teach piano and voice,
directing community choirs in Liskeard and Newquay, Wadebridge Male Voice Choir, St Teath Church Choir, Bodmin & Trigg Minor Deanery Choir, Stubbys’ Jazz
Band, and appears on the console of many local church organs.

It was originally directed by Dr A.F. Wilson-Gunn and the accompanist was Mrs Elizabeth Fishwick.
